Chaser Bunny woke up early to sail the waves. As he looked out of the window from his tiny home in the hills, he heard God say, “My beloved son, you are well and strong.”
He moved quickly through his house to pack his gear—he just couldn’t wait to get out there to ride the waves. Chaser was eager to join his crew to sail the seas to help those in distress. He remembers the time they saved a whale, an octopus, and a sea lion.
Much courage was required those days! Yet, Chaser remembered how God showed up with some extra muscle. He has no doubt that today will be any different.
Psalm 23:6 is our theme scripture for this story. Chaser bunny learns that God’s goodness and mercy follows him all of the days of his life. Through ups and downs, good times and hard times, God is always there—guiding him, loving him.
Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I’m back home in the house of God for the rest of my life. – Psalm 23:6 (Message Translation)
In The Beginning…
In 2018, I started to create a new pattern for my little guy. I envisioned a bunny with a sweet little smile and floppy ears. Somehow I knew he was a sailor bunny. In the beginning, I actually thought that I would create a pattern and sell it, but the Lord wouldn’t let me release it. But why? Little did I know that two years later, he would commission me to write a children’s book with Chaser Bunny as the main character.
This assignment completely caught me off guard. I sew, I paint, I bead, I embroider…but you want me to write God? Are you sure? Have you seen my writing as of late? LOL
But yes, the Lord said write and then he began to download the words—and lots and lots of words! Before I knew it, I realized that Chaser Bunny would become a chapter book full of twists and introductions to lots of beautiful characters. I have had so much fun writing his story! As the plot has developed, I find myself giggling most of the time—just as I do when I’m sewing new toys or painting sweet murals.
Ready For Christmas 2020
A few admirers have already purchased themselves a bunny and I’m currently taking pre-orders for more to be shipped the beginning of December 2020. (Just in time for Christmas!) However, I believe the book will not be ready for publication until 2021. Until then, take a look at the book I wrote titled, “Little White Dog – Don’t Be Gone Long.”
My good friend, Angela Formby and I are tag-teaming the illustrations for the Chaser Bunny book! She’s drawing the characters while I’m focusing on the landscape. It is so fun to see this sweet character come to life on paper too. Isn’t he precious! We are so in love with Chaser Bunny! (I’m in love with my real life Chaser bunny too. ;-))
