While in conversation with someone this summer, I said something about a particular situation that was rooted in criticism. My comment caught me off guard and I was actually surprised that I had said it. However, it reflected an area in my heart that revealed that I needed God to work with me on.
For most, what I said would have hardly gained any attention, but I really want ALL of my words to be drenched in God’s love and I was convicted. Later that day I called the person I was speaking with to say that what I said was in the wrong. Her response then surprised me! She said, “Oh Celina, there’s grace for that!”
What?? You mean I don’t have to be perfect? Wow! Her response was a reflection of God’s heart for us. I have often thought about that moment over this summer and have tried to adopt that approach in a moment’s notice. May I always be known as someone who loves perfectly imperfect people.
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
